Since the beginning of human evolution, light is the most basic technology which is needed by the sapiens to evolve. In this podcast, we discuss the basic phenomenon behind the understanding of light with the theory of photons. Including, how we can control light and how dependent we are on this form of technological tool either as the lighting in homes, long-distance communication (internet), measurement techniques (optical imaging), our study of different matters (chemistry), etc. Apart from a simple source of light, we can make a confined form of the beam (photons) called lasers. In a simplistic way, we explain how these devices work and what are the advantages we can extract from this powerful source. Interestingly,  there are many applications currently which cannot work without different types of lasers, especially in medical research and surgeries (eye surgery).  In general, there are special kinds of lasers known as ultrafast/ultrashort pulse lasers which enable us to study the phenomenon in the femtosecond to the attosecond time scale, much shorter than the timescales of movement of electrons.
